Pardon me...

The leaves fall and I turn my back to walk away
The colors are lost to me as I refuse to look behind me
The more distance I put the more I notice how far I have gone.
I left that ball and chain rolling down the street
The hand I held I gratefully let go of
my hands are now free
my eyes are clear now
the tears are long gone.
The road ahead of me is long
As I close the door on the mistakes I made
Pardon me while I don't believe any more
While you live in your fantasy of what will never be
I left that speeding car headed for a crash
The clinking of a ring to the floor
The weight has been lifted
Pardon me while I turn my back and walk away
I won't fake it
